I Am That Girl: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

“Your brain believes what you tell it.”

~David A. Burrus, Relationship Coach

While out with a couple of friends the other night, one captured this photo of me and sent it to me the next day. I didn’t realize she had taken it, but as I looked at it, a powerful realization hit me: I am THAT GIRL (woman)!

As I continue on my life journey, this is a new way of speaking to myself—one that I haven’t always fully embraced before. Raised to be humble, I had always believed that self-affirmation could be seen as vanity or self-consumed. But now, I understand that recognizing and embracing our own worth is not a contradiction to humility. It’s essential for our growth and self-love. As described in Proverbs 23:7, what a man thinks is what he believes. If you believe you are valuable in your heart, that will shine through to your external self. Our thoughts are powerful.

It’s our responsibility to appreciate and affirm ourselves before waiting for others to do so. How we feel about ourselves has a direct correlation with who and what we attract. Whew!

Today, I am choosing to acknowledge my worth: I look good, I feel good, and my mind is becoming clearer, stronger and wiser each day. I want to insert a praise break right here! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 I am beautiful, smart, and fearfully and wonderfully made. I am unique, qualified and valuable. There is greatness within me. I am love and my light shines because it reflects the ultimate light of God. I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. I’m learning that the more I love on and care for myself, the better I feel. This in turn allows me to love and pour into others.

As Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” This verse affirms that we are crafted by God with intention and purpose, reinforcing our value and the greatness within us.

Embracing my imperfections as part of my perfection, I am not seeking validation from others—God has already validated me. It’s proven in

1 Peter 2:9 (NIV): “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” This journey of self-love and affirmation is about recognizing that our worth comes from within and from a higher source. It’s perfectly ok to say it out loud every now and then but say it to yourself often!

Here are three ways to build confidence and embrace your worth:

1. Speak Over Yourself 🗣️

Begin with simple, positive affirmations like “I am valuable” or “I have unique strengths.” Do it often so that it becomes the natural way you talk to yourself. Repetition is key.

2. Celebrate Everything 🎉

Recognize and celebrate your accomplishments, big or small. Keeping a journal of your successes helps track progress.

3. Surround Yourself with Positivity 🥰

Engage with people who uplift and support you. Positive people can boost your self-esteem and encourage self-affirmation.

By taking these steps, we can begin to transition from fear to a confident acceptance of our self-worth. Remember, affirming oneself is not about vanity but about valuing the unique person God created you to be. It’s a way to do it without it being negative. It’s a posture. When your light and your heart align; you feel it and others see it.

The photo was a gentle reminder for me to keep affirming and believing in myself, even if nobody else does. I believe in ME! I believe in ME! I believe in ME! With God, all things are possible for those of us who believe!

Let’s G(r)O!

Kasey, as I read your blog I reflected on memories of you as a little girl growing up and being the apple of your grandmother Delia Mae's eye and all that she poured into you. The knowledge and wisdom you share with others reflects your background, experiences, and training that keeps you grounded and focused on the journey moving forward. Your gift to see beyond and to love others unconditionally as He surrounds you with his presence is a blessing from above. Let your light continue to shine so that others may continue to see Him through you. "To God Be The Glory For All He Has Done And Continues To Do In Your Life."

I’m so proud of you Kasey and your boldness. You spoke all TRUTH. It was in August 2005 while transitioning through my mom’s passing that God released a powerful confirmation in my spirit. It was the simple statement that says; man gives you titles, but I position you(me) to be blessed. I don’t worry about the thought of people over God’s direction. God makes me smile through every storm that comes my way because my blessings are the victory in knowing who I am and who’s I am. The heart will definitely tell you about the light one carries (dim or bright)

Just know this, you have been a bright light in many lives.

I love you and your spirit,…
