From Clutter to Clarity: Hearing God's Voice in Every Season

In recent months, I have been spending more time in prayer and meditation, seeking to hear from God. In doing so, I was praying specific prayers. God has always showed up, but He shows up according to His plan. He answers our prayers, but the answers we seek don't always look like what we prayed for. This journey has been transformative, leading me to new insights and experiences.

One particular experience stands out. I felt a strong conviction to clean out my closet, a task that turned out to be more than just a physical chore. It became a spiritual exercise in letting go and trusting God's plan. Despite my ongoing journey towards a healthier lifestyle, I found it difficult to part with many clothes that no longer fit. I was attached to them, considering alterations and ways to save money. But God had other plans.

As I stood amidst the clutter, God's voice was clear: "Remove these items. I am going to upgrade your wardrobe." He reassured me that this process was about more than just clothes. "You will wear more of the color green in this next season, reflecting your growth, evolution, and expansion." His words resonated deeply, and I began to obediently remove item after item.

Soon, I had a large stack of clothes, some still with tags. A wave of sadness and regret washed over me, thinking about the money wasted. But God gently corrected me, "Do not dwell on that. Just hear Me. You have to do this to prepare for what is coming. You don’t need these things, and you won’t miss them. It is not in the clothes or shoes; it’s in the heart and soul. A new season is upon you! I’m elevating your presence and your presentation. Your identity is shifting. Your brand identity is being elevated for the kingdom. Your story is being developed to encourage the kingdom."

This powerful message was reinforced during a virtual sermon I heard recently, which served as a confirmation of everything I have been hearing from God. In the teaching, the pastor, Rev. Kevin Allen, Sr., encouraged the listeners to "prepare for the Summer shift." He broke down four ways in which those of us who are in a covenant relationship with God will experience this summer shift; Personal Shift, Positional Shift, Power Shift and Permanent Shift.

This experience has underscored the importance of spending time listening, meditating, and clearing out the clutter and noise in our lives. In doing so, we can hear God's voice more clearly and receive His guidance with an open heart. Letting go of physical and mental clutter creates space for spiritual growth and transformation, aligning us more closely with His plans and purposes.

I am grateful for these revelations and direction that has come from spending dedicated time with God. In the midst of feeling like I'm standing still; God is confirming that I needed to be still so that He could get my undivided attention. May we all strive to create more room in our lives for His voice, trusting in His promise to guide and elevate us in every season—even the dark seasons.

I really enjoy your blogs and how you are navigating this time. Please continue to share, we need to hear your musings because you give a voice to those who can’t or aren’t ready to share. I try to clean out my closet at least twice a year. I am always amazed at how much of a weight is lifted by just making room.
